Lynn Ngugi is a journalist, presenter and YouTuber. She is the CEO of Lynn Network, a company that operates one of the biggest YouTube channel in Kenya.
Lynn Ngugi has impacted the life of families and ordinary people through her educative and talk show and series of live interviews. She is one of the most celebrated journalist in Kenya and was among BBC’s top 100 Women in 2021 under the category of Culture & Education. She was also among Business Daily’s Top 2023 40 under 40 women in Kenya.
Biography
Lynn Ngugi was born October 2, 1989 (Age 35). She is from a broken home. Her father divorced her mother when they were quite young, leaving all the responsibility of raising Lynn Ngugi and her two sisters solely on her mother.
Growing up as a kid in Nairobi was a tough for her as she frequently witnessed her father periodically displaying abusive behaviour towards her mother. Her parents divorce impacted greatly on her and her siblings younger years.
Lynn Ngugi had always wanted to tell her stories while growing up but her dad wanted another career path for her. He wanted her to become a lawyer and her elder sister, a doctor. She never followed the dream of becoming a lawyer because of the financial incapabilities of her struggling mother.
Education
Lynn obtained her Certificate Primary Examinations (KCPE) at the Ndururno Primary School. Although she had a chance of joining Moi High School, she deferred the admission due to the poor finances of her mother.
The following year she got admission into Magumu High School, a local school in South Kinangop. Being a bright student, she excelled through her secondary school and immediately secured admission into the University of Nairobi upon graduation from high school. Again, she missed out on the opportunity due her mother inability to raise school fees.
In 2011, she proceeded to pursue a career in broadcast journalism at the East African School of Media Studies.
Career
After graduating from East African School of Media Studies, she volunteered at Cancer Free Generation, an organisation that focuses on creating cancer awareness, educating people on the importance of early diagnosis, regular checkups, major causes, treatment, prevention and support mechanisms.
In 2014, she secured a spot at Qatar Foundation Research and Development as a Project Manager. She exited the company in 2016 and joined TUKO Media where she worked as a reporter for four years.
In 2021, she launched her media company, Lynn Network and so far she has grown the company to be one of the biggest in Kenya.
Relationship
Lynn Ngugi is single and yet to settle down. She ended her five years old relationship with her fiancé in 2022. The breakup affected her subsequent relationships with men, making her doubt the essence of extended friendship if it doesn’t lead to something more permanent.
“I always wonder why it took so long, since then, when I start talking to someone we can’t go past three months because I feel that’s long enough to know someone,” Lynn said in an interview with Dr Kingori.
Contrary to the public opinion that she has a daughter, Lynn Ngugi confirmed that she has no biological child of her own, although she consider everyone to be her children.
“However, I have accepted the title, I’m a mother to many people, I find myself being close to many people. I’m an aunt to a wonderful niece and nephew, but it’s important for people to verify first,” Lynn added.

when you are honest and sincere,it does not matter how cunning your close friends overwhelm you.IT SO HAPPENS BECAUSE GOD IS ALWAYS A DEFENDANT OF PEOPLE WHOSE HEARTS AND MORALS ARE AFTER GODS HEART.THIS IS A POWERFUL TOOL AND GOD MAKES SURE THAT EVERY CHAFF IS WINNOWED OUT OF YOUR LIFE FOR GOODNESS.
