Meet Bishop Johanna (Danson Gichuhi)

Bishop Johanna is a pastor, prophet and spiritual deliverance minister. He is known for his weird approach to deliverance, which typically involves body contacts with his congregants.

Biography
Bishop Johanna real name Danson Gichuhi hails from Kiruri in Central Kenya. Being a Kikuyu, Bishop Johanna grew up mostly in the Akorino religious home and became deeply rooted in the ways and lifestyle of the traditional Pentecostal Church.

Years of being a dedicated follower of Akorino faith, he launched his Christ Commited Gospel Church in Nakuru in the 2010’s. His newly founded church followed the same unique practices and beliefs of the Akorino religion.

Aside the Akorino traditional rules his newly founded church follows, Bishop Johanna’s Christ Commited Gospel Church lay more emphasis on deliverances and helping individuals overcome spiritual challenges, such as demonic oppression, possession and breaking free from spiritual bondage.

Family
Bishop Johanna is married and blessed with five beautiful children. His wife is a deaconess in his church.

Controversy
In February of 2024, his deliverance video trended on social media with many Kenyans calling on the government to probe him. In the video, Bishop Johanna applying ointment on a female congregant’s stomach and other sensitive parts.

Addressing the accusations of possible accuse on his part, the Bishop has an interview with Kururia TV where he defended his actions. In the interview, he explained that the woman in question sought divine intervention for her marital troubles and wanted her husband back, so he had to do the needed spiritual cleansings.

“When she came, I saw she was troubled. I told her the name of the woman her husband had left her for. She then asked me what she should do… I was doing deliverance in that video. I was casting out evil spirits from the woman, and they spoke to me,” he said.
