Amos Katana: The Gen Z Seeking To Become The MP of Magarini
The youths in Kenya have woken up. No longer will they wait for some corrupt old men to govern and mismanage the resources of the country and one figure doing the push is Amos Katana, a young adult seeking to become a MP of Magarini Constituency.
Background & Biography
Amos Katana (Age 25) hails from Magarini. He is a recent graduate of the JKUAT School of Medicine. He completed his studies in 2025 and has not yet begun his internship.
While at JKUAT, he was vocal about the rights of his fellow students and held several positions within the student council. Upon graduating in 2025, Amos Katana took a bold step, choosing to set aside his medical career to pursue politics in order to serve his people better.
Campaign for the MP of Magarini Constituency
Amos Katana launched his campaign of becoming the MP of the Magarini Constituency in September of 2025 and on the 10th of October, 2025, his candidacy was confirmed by the IEBC.
The Magarini Constituency by election is expected to hold on 27th November 2025 and it will see Amos Katana go against some titans.
“I’am not doing this because I am better than any other person or any other youth. I am stepping forward to break a barrier, to unlock the perennial fear that young people cannot contest or win these seats of leadership. I stand here as one of you Equally challenged, equally human, equally hopeful… The gap between leadership and the people has been widening, and if we remain silent, we risk losing a generation. This campaign is not only an attempt it is a statement That it is possible for the youth to rise, to lead, and to serve. I need your support as fellow youths, because this fight is not mine alone, it is ours.” – Amos Katana
Criticism
While many people are in support of the political ambitions of Amos Katana, others believe that people should not be given elective positions on a platter because they are young, emphasising the need to elect those with proven records, wether young or old.
