Seth Panyako is a registered nurse, trade unionist, politician and of the finest secretary-General of the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN).
Biography & Background
Seth Panyako was born May 5, 1985 (Age 40). He hails from the Avamwambwa clan of Avatovo from the town of Lunyu in Kakamega County.
He is the son of The son of Panyako Hambusini. Being from an educated family, Seth Panyako was always involved in academia and flourished in his studies.
Education & Career
Seth Panyako attended several schools due to the nature of his family’s work. He first went to Lurale Primary School, then Ingolomosio Primary School, and completed his primary education at Chemundu Primary School. He attained his secondary education at Kapsabet Boys, Kaptildil Secondary School, and later finished at Chemundu Secondary School.
After completing his primary and secondary education, he joined the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, specializing in areas such as midwifery.
Upon graduating in 2001, Seth Panyako went into service, and in 2013, he was elected Secretary-General of the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN). As the leader of the union, he fought for the well-being of nurses, negotiated better pay for his colleagues, and pushed for improved working conditions.
Seth Panyako has always shown a passion for leadership. He served as head boy at Chemundu Primary School and was also the chair of the graduating class at UEAB in 2001.
Politics
Seth Panyako has always been involved in politics, right from his days at the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton, and through his active role in nursing affairs. However, he only entered mainstream politics in 2022, when he sought to become the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate for the Malava parliamentary seat, but lost to ANC’s Malulu Injendi.
In 2025, he launched his campaign for the same Malava seat, this time running under a different party, DAP-K.
Family
Seth Panyako is a father of three boys one girl and two wives.
