Background & Biography
Real name, Jacky Vike and popularly known as Awinja(Nyamwalo) was born September 8, 1987 (Age 38) and hails from the Vihiga County.
The actress is the third-born in a family of five. Her family was fairly moderate, which gave her a good start in life. In a place where education could only be afforded by a few, she was sent to school, completing her primary education at Heshima Road Primary School before proceeding to Kegoye High School, where she obtained her KCSE.
Career
Drama and acting has always been what Jacky Vike has known all through her life. She started her career back in class 4, doing play drama but she didn’t put more effort into it until high school during the national drama festival when she met seasoned storyteller Joel Kennedy Otukho.
It was Otukho who motivated her to audition at the Kenya National Theatre, a move that forever changed her life for good. In 2008, her professional acting career kickstarted following her entrance into Theatrix Arts Ensemble where she eventually secured a role to act in high school set book plays.
The following year, she secured another contract with Heartstrings and acted in the popular play News made in Kenya. She also appeared on other minor role in other programmes and by the end of the year, she had already made a mark in the entertainment industry, a leap of progress that secured her a spot and a chance to work in the famous citizen TV show, Papa Shirandula.
Her appearance on Papa Shirandula further solidified her position as one of the most versatile actress to emerge in Kenya in a long time.
In 2024, she launched her own movie series, Disco Matanga. The show was shot in her Village, it airs every wednesday YouTube.

Aside playing Awinja in Papa Shirandula, she has acted on other notable movies such as Inside Job Movie, Click Click bang, Ni sisi, and Nairobi Half-life, all of which have been marketed by NETFLIX.

Jacky Vike aka Awinja(Nyamwalo) is a philanthropist and an activists. She has distributed lots of learning materials to school students through her Back 2 School program.
She is also a political activist. Infact, she was one of the leading figure in the SiriNiNumbers June25th protest in Kenya.
