Yuehua Bai Zhenya: The Man Who Just Acquired Jamhuri Showground

Yuehua Bai Zhenya is a Chinese business man and a resident of Kenya who has been caught in a lot of controversies. He’s the managing director of Sino-Kenya Engineering Group Company Limited and under his management, he has secured lots of government contracts and tenders.

In September 2025, it was reported that he had acquired the Jamhuri Showground, an 18.7-acre piece of land, on a 50-year lease.

Alleged Involvement In Corruption
While Yuehua Bai Zhenya’s acquisition of land does not appear to be illegal, his past record and that of his company, Sino-Kenya Engineering Group Company Limited, have drawn attention to his character and to the implications for the Kenyan government in its fight against corruption.

Also known as Bai Junxi Kenya, Yuehua Bai Zhenya has been banned from handling most projects by the World Bank and other international organizations. In 2021, the African Development Bank Group announced the debarment of Sino-Kenya Engineering Group Company Limited and Mr. Yuehua Bai for a period of 36 months for their involvement in fraudulent practices during a tender for the design and construction works for the Nandi Hills Water Supply and Sanitation Project under the Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Programme.
