While she is popularly known as Akoko Val, her full name is Akoko Valery Oyugi. She hails from Kisumu and was born on June 17, 1999 (Age 26). She spent most of her life in Nairobi, where she acquired both her primary and secondary education.

Growing up in a middle-class family, she enjoyed certain privileges, including access to gadgets and mobile phones, which led to her early introduction to content creation. Her journey into content creation began in 2017.
