Full name David Edward Owuor hails from Goma village in, Bondo, Siaya County, Kenya. He was born in 1966 (Age 59). His parents were Hezekiah and Margaret Ochieng, a civil servant and a housewife who lived a modest, Christian life in Yimbo. It was there that Dr. David Owuor grew up with his eight siblings, six girls and two boys.

David Owuor’s father was a middle-class earner, which provided him with a stable upbringing. He received basic education at a time when many Kenyans had limited access to schooling. For his primary education, he attended Wambasa Primary School in Yimbo before transferring to Jusa Primary School in Siaya.

After completing primary school, he moved to Uganda for his secondary education due to the nature of his father’s work. While in Uganda, his father was transferred to Kampala, where David attended Luzira Secondary School for his lower secondary education. He later joined Mbale Senior Secondary School for his upper secondary education, where he attained his O-level certificate.

After attaining his O-level, he moved to St. Peter’s College, Tororo, for his A-level studies. In 1984, he secured admission to the University of Nairobi and graduated in 1988. Before joining the University of Nairobi, David Owuor briefly studied at Makerere University in Uganda in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree.

Upon graduating from the University of Nairobi in 1988, he later joined Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, where he pursued a PhD in Molecular Genetics. After completing his doctoral studies, he was offered positions at two leading medical institutions in the United States. He chose to work as a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

From a Scientist to a Prophet

David Owuor states that he had long felt a calling from God to serve Him. He reports receiving a revelation to become a prophet in 1987 while in Uganda, but he chose to ignore it and continue with his studies. While in Israel, he says the call came again, but he did not respond at that time. It was during his work as a researcher in the United States in the early 2000s that he says he finally heeded the call, leaving behind his career, achievements, and wealth to preach the gospel in Kenya.

By mid-2003, David Owuor had returned to Kenya, and in 2004 he founded the Repentance and Holiness Ministry. He began as a door-to-door preacher in Nakuru. His ministry emphasizes repentance from sin, adherence to biblical teachings, spiritual healing, and miracles.

Controversies and Alleged Miracles

Prophet Dr. David Owuor has been involved in several controversies. In late December 2025 and January 2026, he claimed to have healed individuals living with HIV, with some local doctors reportedly supporting these claims.

However, the Ministry of Health later distanced itself from the testimonies, stating that HIV cannot be cured through prayer. Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale subsequently ordered investigations into doctors who claimed that Prophet Owuor had healed HIV/AIDS and cancer patients.

In 2025, Prophet Dr. David Owuor publicly prayed for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, stating that God would grant him victory. A few days into 2026, Nicolás Maduro was reportedly captured.
